I’m Coming Up?

I had a vision about the future…ushers will want to get paid, so will deacons, greeters, out of tune choir members and so on…

So, I have a question.

Why are there so many people trying to “come up” and get paid off Gods people…? It used to be prevalent in the pulpit years ago…but now it has spread to auxiliary ministries and niche areas…listen, I do believe a workman is worthy of their wages…that’s one thing and I have no problem sowing into others lives as I have done many times before…BUT it’s totally another when you want to charge everyone as if you have a “stellar award”, made album sales, are on local radio or TV or you have been serving and producing at a high level for decades around the country…Sadly, this is how Speaking engagements dried up because of such attitudes among preachers and other areas are soon to follow. Now It’s about seats not souls. You are not thinking about impact…you are making calculations as you scan the crowd photos on social media and that’s not right.

So what does the word say:
“Now godliness with contentment is great gain. For we brought nothing into this world, and it is certain we can carry nothing out. And having food and clothing, with these we shall be content. But those who desire to be rich fall into temptation and a snare, and into many foolish and harmful lusts which drown men in destruction and perdition. For the love of money is a root of all kinds of evil, for which some have strayed from the faith in their greediness, and pierced themselves through with many sorrows.”

1 Timothy 6:6-10 NKJV
So here is a humility test. Host an event for yourself, charge what you think you are worth, then wait. Don’t get upset if there are no-shows or the same circle of folks are there..in reality it’s a grind, it’s hard work…VERY hard…also don’t be fooled by the audience at the church you go to or see online…the pastor who has labored for those souls isn’t your source of income, God is..so please don’t have an entitlement attitude, after all that pastor (FOR years) worked, cried, counseled, suffered, sowed and prayed for those people not you… and if you are not careful, you will get trapped in an ego bubble with a reputation for being a hireling who resents people who wont support “your ministry”.

Simply, no one owes you or I anything if God is the source of everything… once again, I agree that you have the right to speak, sing, dance, or play but HAVE you earned the right (after years of serving others selflessly) to be heard? If you don’t get that spirit under control, soon you too will disappear from the flyers that you covet so dearly
