You are not the only one “Doing right”

Truth Minute: You are not the only one “Doing Right”

So you have an orthodox or sound doctrinal foundation in teaching the Word and you express that “true ministry” is feeding the poor, clothing the naked, no compromise to sin and reaching the lost at any cost. You tithe, give an offering, post messages about scriptural purity, rail against false preachers, teachers, pastors etc…you never run away from controversy, you know Hell is real and you stand firm on principle, seeing yourself as a champion of righteousness in a cesspool of wickedness in this world. These things are all commendable to God and his service. They are not easy tasks to adhere to or to communicate to a Pagan/Secular culture. However, one must not think that they are the only one who are at the frontlines of the war over Good and evil in this world. You may have a Good church, but so do others, You may have a pastor that’s not hypocritical but there are others. You may perform hours upon hours of community service, counsel broken people until the wee hours of the morning or give money to the needy that you had allocated for other necessities, but so do others.

My point for this is to say that while you may be “feeling” like you are the only one doing right, you are not. There are “others” who are the remnant that will not appease the system of evil either. With this truth, God keeps us humble because a person can develop silent pride and have a sense of false piousness as a result.

1 Kings 19:13-18 (NKJV)
13 So it was, when Elijah heard it, that he wrapped his face in his mantle and went out and stood in the entrance of the cave. Suddenly a voice came to him, and said, “What are you doing here, Elijah?”
14 And he said, “I have been very zealous for the LORD God of hosts; because the children of Israel have forsaken Your covenant, torn down Your altars, and killed Your prophets with the sword. I alone am left; and they seek to take my life.”
15 Then the LORD said to him: “Go, return on your way to the Wilderness of Damascus; and when you arrive, anoint Hazael as king over Syria.
16 Also you shall anoint Jehu the son of Nimshi as king over Israel. And Elisha the son of Shaphat of Abel Meholah you shall anoint as prophet in your place.
17 It shall be that whoever escapes the sword of Hazael, Jehu will kill; and whoever escapes the sword of Jehu, Elisha will kill.
18 Yet I have reserved seven thousand in Israel, all whose knees have not bowed to Baal, and every mouth that has not kissed him.”

Elijah was fatigued, he was weak from fighting, and ministry “stunk” at that time. He was depressed, stressed, went into isolation and had a “woe is me moment”. That hen God said you are not the only one doing right. There are others. So don’t have a pity party and make your cave a pedestal for false piety. Don’t become cultish and silo your ministry off as if you have divine revelation that no other person has. The canon is sealed. There is no new revelation outside the word of God. So Keep moving forward and stay faithful and always remember that God will get the Job done with or without you. (Now isn’t that humbling). #backtowork #nopityparty #inseasonorout #burnout #bewareoffalsepiety
